Get to know Ms. Starling!
Welcome to my class! This is my fourth year teaching and my first year at FWE. I am ecstatic and eager to work with my students as they become lifelong learners. I can’t believe I get the lucky privilege to teach the leaders of the school. It is so much fun to meet new faces. I truly believe that this new school year will bring amazing things! Obviously, I have to inform everyone that I’m an Aggie! At Texas A&M, I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies with a 4-8 Language Arts and Social Studies focus. I could not be more grateful to be living my dream to educate children. The students are the reason I am here! I have high expectations for my class and am confident that we can set and reach goals together. I want the kids to know that I believe in progress, not perfection, as each day brings new opportunity for growth. I am extremely passionate about technology integration. Last year, I was awarded 1st Place Classroom Innovation Leadership. I give my students all the credit. They demonstrated how we used research to create a STEM golf course. Because of this achievement, my class was gifted laptops. My interest in technology led me to apply for the SBISD Vanguard Fellowship Cohort. This leadership group is full of passionate teachers. We develop and implement strategies, collaborate, and are mentors for peers. Vanguard has encouraged me to embrace the journey of driving innovation and personalization in the classroom. In addition, I lead the Minecraft Club after school. This club gives kids the freedom to create. It broadens their imagination and inspires them to build and think beyond the walls of their little world. It is also a problem-solving game. It pushes them to higher-level and critical thinking. Please feel free to check out my classroom twitter: www.twitter.com/missstarling3 I think that my capabilities can be contributed to an affirmation that teaching is what I am meant to do. It is my current position that has instilled in me a passion and excitement for teaching that I believe will stand the test of time!!! I love inspiring others, reading, hanging out withgood friends, listening to live music, laughing, and making the most of this awesome life. If you ever feel the need to bring me a cold Diet Coke, I won’t oppose! Students- As we walk up the stairs each and every day, I want you to remember…WE’VE GOT THIS!!! Bring on 5th grade! |
